Happy Thanksgiving!

Besides turkey, stuffing, and pie, Thanksgiving is all about family. The IronTeam family got a little bigger this week when web-captain Kristin, Freidrich, and Charlie welcomed Loreley into their family. Congratulations to the Drees Family!

Have a safe holiday, and we’ll see you all next week!

    what’s on your nightstand?

The newest issue of Bicycling arrived on our doorstep today and I’ve already perused it cover to cover. It’s a great mag, and you should really subscribe. No, they don’t especially like tri geeks. But, it’s the best quick source for bicycling information I’ve found.

To whit, Kristin’s very own “Need It, Want It, Are You Kidding?” review of Bicycling Volume XLVII Number 11

    Need It
    “The Fuel,” page 101
A head-to-head food competition. Dang! They don’t like my buttered toast. Hooray! I can eat real eggs.

    “Star Bright,” page 87
I wish I may, I wish I might, get the lights on this list now that it’s dark just past noon! Be safe, light your bike from dusk to dawn.

    “Libations,” page 105
Just what we need: A guide to bicycle-friendly adult beverages. Make mine a Mojito!

    Want It
    “Wrapping to Ride,” page 92
The ultimate gift guide. Hint hint: IronTeam Holiday Gift exchange is only a few weeks away!

“Jersey of the Month,” page 30
Graham Watson’s TdF photos on a jersey — that’s motivation.

“8 Great Group Rides — And How to Join,” page 33
Western Wheeler’s Tuesday Loop Ride! Sunnyvale? How very doable.

    Are You Kidding?
“A Proven Power Boost,” page 34
He may be The Lance’s coach, but Charmichael’s advice to ride close to lactate threshold in the off season doesn’t fit with our Ironman training.

    “Wicked Good,” page 23
Who is Bike Snob NYC and why does he hate aerobars? Someone needs a hug.

pulling pool covers: it does a body good

DSCN5082.JPGThis weekend, the Team conquered the Davenport and Shannon hills, swam a touch, and learned how to sing an octave higher simply by jumping into the Pacific in November! Awesome!

Photos of the Saturday Captains’ brick and plunge.
Photos of the Sunday Coached swim and ride.

And, remember these immortal words from Salt-n-Pepa
    “Now wait a minute, y’all
    This pool ain’t for everybody
    Only the sexy people
So all you fly mothers, get on out there and pull covers
    Pull, I said!”
